Gordonsville Park Project
The Town has been awarded a $1.6M Land and Water Conservation Fund grant from the National Park Service for the redevelopment of Verling Park and Dix Memorial Pool. A schematic plan for the project was approved by Town Council in December 2022. Project design is complete and construction documents are being finalized for contractor bid solicitation. Project construction will begin in the late summer/early fall of 2023.

A project development schedule may be viewed here.

This project is made possible by a donation of property from the Piedmont Environmental Council.

Project costs have increased significantly. We are fundraising for grant match funds needed to fully construct Phase I of the project. Click here for more information.

Verling Park / Dix Memorial Pool
Verling Park and Dix Memorial Pool are located between Linney Street and Allen Street.

All areas, amenities, and facilities located in the park are open to the public. Items include:
  • A tennis court (marginal condition)
  • A playground
  • A picnic shelter
  • Conveniently placed trash receptacles
The park contains the county's only public swimming pool.

The park is open one hour before sunrise until one hour after sunset. Dogs must be on a leash and under control in the park.

The picnic shelter is available for rent for private events and parties. To rent the picnic shelter, call Town Hall at 540-832-2233. The application for rental is available online here.

Cooke Park
Cooke Park was built on land donated by the William A. Cooke Foundation, honoring long-time local businessman William Cooke.  The project was completed with the support of Bruce and Jacqueline Gupton, who purchased and renovated a number of Mr. Cooke's downtown properties.

Cooke Park sits on Main Street in the heart of the shops and galleries of Gordonsville. It is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the calm surroundings of our community.

Gordonsville Quarry
The Town of Gordonsville does not permit recreational use of the quarry at this time.
